Animal Rights (n): an idea that all animals are entitled to the ability to be free from being held in captivity, hunted, used for medical research.

We chose this subject to look into the meaning of animal rights and organizations that claim to help animals and their methods on assisting animals by sparing them from being put down, hunted, or eaten. However, the main focus on this subject is domestic animals.

We were interested in organizations such as PETA and ASPCA and what methods they use to demonstrate their position on Animal Rights. For instance, we discovered that puppies raised in puppy mills are most likely to contract diseases, dogs from mills are sold to big corporations (e.g. PetCo) and and female dog are forced to submit breeding and giving birth to pups.

[Are Pets Better off Without Their Destitute Owners?]

This passage demonstrates the purpose of pets of the homeless population and why destitute individuals deserve to have the right to own pets just as much as  we do.

[The Contradiction of Our Country]

Specific on laws, regulations, and organizations on animal rights that have heavy influence on public opinion on these laws and regulations.

Why Do Animals Have Rights?

This passage explains how animals have rights in result of the human relationship with animals. We’ve had a relationship with animals since the beginning. Throughout our history together, domestic animals have been loyal to us since which is why  we feel the need to give them rights to protect from cruelty and allow them to be spared from suffering.

I like the essay “Are Pets Better Without Their Homeless Owners?” because it’s something i see almost everyday. I would think the homeless people actually take really good care of their pets because that’s where they get their companionship from.

In the summary it is mentioned that hunting is included in animal rights. Hunting is generally for food purposes. Based off your beliefs on the issue how do you see the difference between survival hunting vs the sport? Also if you see survival hunting as an animal right problem then this would mean farming livestock is a problem as well, correct?

I know you are focusing on domestic animals but in your description of “animal rights” it says animal rights try to stop animals from getting hunted. I know it means hunted by people but people and many other predators animals evolved to hunt so I dont think that should be in the description of “animal rights” In fact I think it is animals (including humans) right to hunt.
