For our Fall Interdisciplinary Project we chose to study the issues surrounding human trafficking. We decided on this topic because we were curious about why this situation is so looked over in the U.S. We knew what it is was in terms of a definition but the actual details, we knew nothing about it. A dictionary definition of human trafficking is the action or practice of illegally transporting people from one country or area to another, typically for the purposes of forced labour or commercial sexual exploitation. We soon realized that there were many different types of human trafficking including, but not limited to, forced labor, sex trafficking, child labor, commercial sexual exploitation of children, and even the accumulation of child soldiers. For the scope of our project we chose to focus on sex trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of children because we thought it would have more information and more stories on it. Ultimately, the research question we settled on is “What are the psychological and legal reasons Human Trafficking exist in the U.S.?”
Through our project you will read a variety of essays about human trafficking. We start by defining Human Trafficking for you. Let you know about the different laws and organizations about our topic. Then you will have a chance to read our Cause and Effect essay that will helpfully explain the psychological effects on victims. Finally, we present a narrative that explores the series of events that our character Ava Freeman has been through.
In addition to our written exploration of the topic, we created a satirical movie poster based on the film Fast and the Furious, and an original video production, which seeks to bring awareness of human trafficking and tell the stories of the victims.

Human Trafficking is prostitution and modern slave labor all in one. Prostitution is more so when the prostitue is doing it by herself to make her own money rather than someone forcing her using coercion to make the leader their money.
