It was the mission of my group to create a clear picture for all those not yet informed on the huge part the American Legislation Exchange Council, or ALEC, plays in in our country. More specifically, our question was: How does the partnership between Politicians and members of ALEC shift the balance of power in the United States.

ALEC is an organization of super rich, ultra powerful, and in many cases international corporations, as well as conservative government/state officials and legislators that use loopholes in the legal guidelines of non-profit organizations in tandem with the immense power and wealth of the corporate half to push conservative legislation through the legislative half.

We felt that the existence of ALEC as well as its actions goes against not only the very ideals our country was built upon and attempts to stand for, but also basic morals, due to this we knew we had to report on this topic. This is a very important topic as ALEC, for better or worse, helps to decide what the future of our country will look like, and thus affects the lives of hundreds of millions, and for all its power a relatively small percent of the population is aware of it’s existence and purpose.

Project Sections:

Behind the Scenes:
An essay defining ALEC and explaining it’s purpose, power, members, and more.

The Dirty Truth: How Bills Become Law:
An essay that demonstrates the power and effects of ALEC on the United States Government as well as on the nation and it’s people.

Corruption is a Slippery Slope:
A little story about a bright and gifted senator corrupted and turned against the very citizens he had once sought to help.

Other than the little bit they talked about ALEC in the movie 13th I really had no idea what they did. I think you did a really good job with making a confusing subject a little easier to understand.

Really creative title, and the parallels between the original character and the person you chose to replace them with are really cool.
